MacIntyre's account of the birth of the SAS gallops along, After a few quick introductions, we're off on Operation Squatter, the SAS's catastrophic opening effort from which just 21 out 55 men returned - without having inconvenienced the enemy in any way. If you like a book that actually makes you tired from reading all about these incredible soldiers, well you need this one. Navy Seal and other Special Operations groups so I throughly enjoyed the read.
I was not aware of this precursor to the U.S. This small bad of soldiers seemed to actually enjoy killing and even though they faced a very good likely hood of being killed, captured or wounding, they seem to enjoy the hunt. German Field Marshal Rommel called him The Phantom Major.
